What is a pianogram?

play.jpg

Michael Collins Pianograms are personalized, custom-created piano and singing greetings recorded onto video and sent to your loved one in an email.  Whether it be for a birthday, holiday, anniversary, or any other special occasion, each pianogram is individually created and delivered by email to whomever you choose on his or her special day. Michael Collins Pianograms are guaranteed to bring a smile!  Best of all, pianograms can be revisited, as all pianograms are archived on Vimeo.  If you would like your video to be private, we can arrange that as well with a Vimeo password that we will send to the sender and receiver only.  Please allow 5-7 business days for the creation and upload of each pianogram.  Thank you!

My Story

Galchi_Exhibition-26-680x1024-2.jpg

I was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1983. At 13 months I was diagnosed with a rare genetic neurodevelopment disorder called Williams Syndrome (WS). Although WS causes medical and developmental challenges for individuals living with it, I strive to live my life to the fullest extent and to not let this diagnosis stop me from dreaming big and achieving my goals.

I loved growing up in Maryland and was fully included in my neighborhood school which I attended. I made a lot of friends there during the first 8 years of my life. With them I became a part of the Cub Scouts and also was a part of basketball and soccer teams in my town. When I was 8 years old I moved to Rhode Island with my family and began to build upon my musical talent.

In 1997 I attended a camp developed by the Williams Syndrome Association called Camp Belvoir, which is located in Lenox, Massachusetts. While there, I discovered that my love of music went far beyond just listening to it; I learned that I could also sing and play an instrument. After graduating from Portsmouth High School, I attended the Berkshire Hills Music Academy in South Hadley, Massachusetts where I continued to develop my musical skills.

I also sang with Newport Navy Choristers. I have played the piano for many events in Rhode Island including a performance at Salve University’s illustrious Ochre Court for a Looking Upwards Holiday celebration as well as during the Installation of Officers for both the New England Kiwanis Governor’s Installation and the Newport Kiwanis’ chapter of the Aktion Club.

I started this piano gram business as a way to share my musical talents and bring joy to others for their special occasions.

While making your loved ones happy, it is also important to me to have the chance to make others feel good as well. That is why I have dedicated a portion of the proceeds from each pianogram to benefit both Looking Upwards, Inc. and the Williams Syndrome Association.

Sincerely,

Michael Collins
